Thank you
for visiting St. Mary Parish Assessor's website. I hope the information will
assist you in understanding the property tax process. This website includes
information on homestead exemption and special assessment levels ("freeze").
As a
taxpayer and property owner in St. Mary Parish, each individual is concerned
with being assessed fairly and accurately. The laws governing property
assessments are enacted by the Louisiana Legislature. The guidelines for
assessors to follow are created and administered by the Louisiana Tax
Commission. All property taxes are calculated by using the assessed property
value of the property and the current millage in the area in which the
property is located. All millage's are subject to voter approval by the
residents of St. Mary Parish.
As your
Assessor, it is my responsibility to interpret these laws, to be fair and
equitable, and to serve the residents of St. Mary Parish in and effective
and courteous manner.
As your
Assessor, I will always have an "open door policy". If at any time my staff
or I can be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact us or
come by the office.
